Memorial Details

A public memorial will be held tomorrow, Saturday July 19th at the Koka Booth Amphitheater in Cary, NC from 2:30-4:30 PM.

It is a beautiful outdoor space that Nancy loved, especially for the summer NC Symphony concerts.

The family would love attendees to write something in the guest books, as these will be saved for the children to see later how much their mother was loved and cherished in this community.

A fund for the children is in the process of being set up, but there will at the very least be a drop box for contributions (I'll revise this post when I know to whom a check should be made out).

A service in Canada is also being planned for sometime next week; details will be posted when they become available.

I have been following the story of Nancy since it began:
I am sorry for the loss of your wonderful Mother, Sister, Daughter and Friend. Please know that out thoughts and prayers are with your family at this time.
Thank you for keeping everyone updated-we are hundreds of miles away and didn't know Nancy but she sounds like such a wonderful woman. This story has touched our hearts. May God Bless your family and especially those two beautiful little girls.

Many years ago I learned that every life touches every other life.

We're separated by many states...what happened to your beautiful Nancy has touched our lives. This morning we went out (as we mentioned on a previious post) and put white ribbons around numerous trees. It, indeed, produced the results we were hoping for...people asked "Why are you putting up those ribbons". We were able to tell them of Nancy.

Life has taught me that the Lord understands the "language" of tears. I cannot even imagine the heart ache you must be feeling...but I know the One who does. I trust the Lord continue to walk with you each step of the way. You are in our prayers.

Does anyone know what 1/2 marathon Nancy was training for? As a mother of 2 girls (also ages 2 and 4), and a runner currently in training for a 1/2 marathon, i would love to raise money and donate it to the memorial fund for Nancy and her girls.

This is a tragedy beyond words, as much for Nancy's beautiful babies as for her. HOW DARE ANYONE TAKE AWAY THEIR MOMMY? it is unfathomable and brings me to my knees w/ tears.

I would love to dedicate my run to Nancy's girls.

This story has touched me deeply. As a resident in the town next door to Cary, a member of Lifetime Fitness, a mother of preschoolers, and a wife...I relate to Nancy. I take great peace in watching your press conferences and knowing that her girls will be in such capable hands. Just watching you all, makes me want to know your family. Nancy was certainly lucky to have a family such as yours, and I'm sure she felt your love deeply. I hope time, and your loved ones will help you all heal. You are amazing people. Thank you for sharing Nancy with those who did not know her.

I wish I had the wisdom to find words that would comfort you during this horrible tragedy. I can't imagine the pain in your hearts. When I heard this story and all of the wonderful comments about Nancy, I was reminded of a song, "Heaven Was Needing A Hero" by Jo Dee Messina:

I came by today to see you
I just had to let you know
If I knew the last time that I held you was the last time
I'd have held you, and never let go

Oh, it's kept me awake nights, wondering
I lie in the dark, just asking why
I've always been told
You won't be called home
Until it's your time

I guess heaven was needing a hero
Somebody just like you
Brave enough to stand up
For what you believe
And follow it through
When I try to make it make sense in my mind
The only conclusion I come to
Is heaven was needing a hero
Like you

I remember the last time I saw you
Oh, you held your head up proud
I laughed inside
When I saw how you were standing out in the crowd
Your such a part of who I am
Now that part will just be void
No matter how much I need you now
Heaven needed you more

Cause heaven was needing a hero
Somebody just like you
Brave enough to stand up
For what you believe
And follow it through
When I try to make it make sense in my mind
The only conclusion I come to
Is heaven was needing a hero
Like you

Yes Heaven was needing a hero
and that's you

Please post the information regarding the trust for Nancy's young children when it is available. I am not wealthy, but would like to help in any way that I can.

My thoughts and prayers are with you during the difficult time.

Very moving to read all the warm supportive notes. Especially touching to read the words of the Jo Dee Messina song "Heaven Was Needing a Hero".

I'm hoping there will be an online memorial where we can gather all the notes, the photos and more notes to come.
