Who are we?
We are a group of Nancy's close friends who are devastated by her loss and are trying to help her family out in any way we can. We are not a single individual, even though the blog may look like that. We are lucky to have each other to lean on.

I will keep Nancy's family in my prayers. As a mother of a young child, my heart is crushed by what has happened.
Please let her family know that prayers are going up for them in the days to come.

I am a (soon to be) 36 yo mom of two from Holly Springs who is also training for the same half marathon as Nancy. Her story has hit close to home. My thoughts and prayers are with Nancy's family and friends. This is such a tragic loss. I completely understand the family's need for privacy at this time. I do wish there was something I could do to help. Even something as small as an outward remembrance of Nancy during the race Aug. 31st. She certainly will be on my mind as I run- especially that day. At the very least, please accept my most sincere and heartfelt sympathies.
My heart aches for you all. I have done what little I can through my blog, but nothing can reverse what has been done. My prayers are with Nancy's friends, her family, and all of her friends.
I am so sorry for your loss. I do not have the words that will make the pain easier, but know that friends and strangers praying for your family. Peace be with you.

Innocence Lost in Cary
I moved to Cary from New York in 1972 along with most of the other techno-immigrants to the new RTP. If I recall correctly, in 1972 there were about 8,000 people in Cary, and Ashworth’s Drugstore was the hub of the community, and also serving the best hot dogs in the area.
There was no Cary Parkway, but there was definitely a Kildaire Farm, complete with real cows and horses to be carefully watched on that 2-lane road on a Sunday afternoon with one’s kids.
Today, July 15, 2008, we learned that Nancy Cooper was murdered in our neighborhood. I am sure there have been many like-minded folks like me who have hoped, beyond hope, that Nancy would bolt from the shadows and once again hold her beautiful girls.
This incredible loss will forever shadow our once innocent town. May justice show her face soon.

As a mother of two young girls, and also a runner who moved her from the north.. - this story brings tears to my eyes every time I think about it. I hope that God brings Nancy's family & friends all the strength that is needed.
I am so sorry for your family's loss. I know everyone is saying that, but we all mean it with the utmost respect and sincerity. This is absolutely the most tragic thing I've heard of, in addition to the other deaths lately in Florida, Georgia and North Carolina. I'm from the south too, and it makes me very nervous about going out alone - I never do. That may sound extreme but we can't be too careful in this day and age.
I hope the criminal is brought to justice in this life, but please know that if he or she isn't, that they will certainly be having trial in the next life. You can bet the bank on that.
This story makes me angry unfortunately more than anything. I am sure you all are angry too. Let's not let the anger take hold for long though, so we can contain our peace and pass it along to these family members and the 2 little angels she left behind, who will miss their momma terribly in the years to come...wedding days, engagements, grandchildren...memories and moments taken away from these 2 babies all too soon :'(
